Instructions for installing the software on
additional computers

Posted: 7/9/2005
The information that follows is provided to assist RBGAN
users. It is based on field reports from a few users who have
made the upgrade, as well as available information from Bizub
Communications and Inmarsat. HumaniNet accepts no responsibility
for any difficulties, including software or hardware problems,
that may occur in making the upgrade. This information is advisory
only and the user must use judgment in accepting these tips.
Once you have installed the new software, you cannot go back
to the old satellite.
These instructions are for upgrading additional computers
after the upgrade has been performed on your RBGAN.
- Insert the new CD in your computer. Do NOT connect the R-BGAN
modem to your computer.
- If the install wizard does not start
up automatically, start the installation manually by choosing"Start,
Run" and
then type in "D:\Setup.exe".
- The installation
should now begin with the "Welcome" screen.
Press "Next" to start the installation process.
- When the "Choose Destination Location" screen
appears, just click on the "Next" button.
- Then,
the "Start Installation" screen will
appear. Just choose "Next" again.
- After the
software is installed on your computer you will be prompted
with a "Proceed with Modem Upgrade" screen
telling you to connect your R-BGAN modem to your computer.
DO NOT CONNECT THE MODEM! Just click on "Next".
- You will now see the "R-BGAN Satellite Modem Upgrader" Screen.
There will be a pause for a few seconds while your computer
tries to locate your modem. This will fail, of course, because
your modem is not connected. You will then see an alert
message informing you that the software was unable to get the
modem's software version. Just click "OK" to make
this screen disappear. Then, close the "R-BGAN
Satellite Modem Upgrader" screen by clicking on
the "X" in the top right corner.
- Another screen
called the "BGAN System Information
Upgrader" will appear. After several seconds, another
alert message will appear informing you, "Cannot connect
to the Satellite IP Modem".
Simply close both of these screens.
- You should now see
a screen that says, "The upgrade
has been completed". The setup will now check
for Java... (etc.)." Press "OK". If
the screen disappears and nothing else happens, the
installation is complete! If you are prompted to install
additional applications such as "Adobe Reader" or "Java",
just follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Once you have installed the new software, you cannot go back
to the old satellite.
